Cancer remains one of society’s most pressing and complex health challenges. We are convinced that progress in prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of malignant diseases depends on excellent science that unites discovery with application. Advancing this integration is the central mission of TranslaTUM.
As a corporate research center of the Technical University of Munich, TranslaTUM is located on the campus of TUM University Hospital rechts der Isar. In direct proximity to patient care, physician scientists, natural scientists, and engineers work together under one roof to connect clinical questions in oncology with advanced methods in molecular sciences, bioengineering, and computation. TranslaTUM brings together investigators from several TUM Schools, enabling interdisciplinary teams to move from question and hypothesis to model and validation, and to deliver robust knowledge and solutions for future innovation.
Our scientific strengths include immunology and immuno oncology, oncogenic signaling, and advanced imaging and sensing. Collaboration within the center is supported by externally funded local, national, and international research consortia. Shared facilities and research platforms, including Cell Analysis, Proteomics, and Preclinical Imaging, provide high end instrumentation and expert support across the institute.
We are also deeply committed to mentoring and educating the next generation of cancer researchers. TranslaTUM offers an ideal training environment where students, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and junior group leaders from different disciplines learn, lead, and collaborate through lecture series, rotations, and community events.
This site presents our research groups and the central platforms that enable our work. We invite you to explore our investigators and facilities and to join us in advancing cancer research for the benefit of patients.
